You Need to Meet in Person!

“When the daily avalanche of emails and voice messages gets overwhelming, it’s so tempting to retreat to my office and start typing replies and returning phone calls. That’s one of the biggest mistakes I can make”.

These are the first sentences of the article 5 Reasons You Need to Meet in Person | Inc.com. I agree and honestly believe that it can be counted as a big mistake for a lot of business people. No matter what industry you’re in.

Although replying to emails, create new ones and answering the phone is very important during the last 2 months of the application period (deadline is April 1st), we still find it very important to have the personal contact with our prospect students. We still manage to find the time to visit Education Fairs around the world, participate in Information Day’s at the University and schedule meetings with prospects that visit the Netherlands and/or Amsterdam for a holiday or for meeting with friends. It is the ideal way to meet the new talents of tomorrow, help them with choosing the right programme that fits their profile and future goals and to create a more personal, and less individual, environment once the international students are here. Four weeks ago we were representing VU University Amsterdam at an Education fair in Vilnius, two weeks ago at the 14th International Exhibition on Education and Career in Athens and at the Holland Fair at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

Upcoming Events
This upcoming weekend we will be present at the 10th Romanian International University Fair 2012 in Bucharest. Simultaneously, we have scheduled intake interview with international students that are visiting the Netherlands and will attend the Master’s Day at VU University Amsterdam. We will talk about their educational background, their eligibility for the programme of their choice and other practicalities.

Maybe we have met you already or will meet you at one of these events! We are looking forward to it!
