Last weekend I travelled to Lithuania to promote the masters of VU University Amsterdam at the Education Fair in Vilnius, organized by the Holland Education Support Centre (HESC) of the Netherlands and Latvian Chamber of Commerce (www.hesc.lv). The fair was mainly aimed at promoting higher education opportunities in the Netherlands.

Ice Skating on the frozen canals of Amsterdam

The Dutch are “crazy” about ice skating. If biking is a daily activity, ice skating occurs in a short period of time, so… let’s enjoy it to the fullest!

As someone from a place where it hardly snows, I confess I have never thought of being in an Ice Skating Disco or even Ice Skating on a frozen river. And guess what? It is amazing!

Even the airlines are starting to create services for their passengers to network, even on your trip to Amsterdam! Erik A. Mooi (Department of Marketing, VU University Amsterdam) and Stefan H.K. Wuyts (Koç University Istanbul) have won a prestigious grant from the ISBM (Institute of the Study of Business Markets) of Penn State University.

Netherlands organisation for international cooperation in higher education turns 60!

This year marks an important anniversary for Nuffic: on 11 January 2012 it will be 60 years to the day that they were founded by the Dutch universities as the Netherlands organisation for international cooperation in higher education. Established at the government’s request, the new organisation was envisioned to make Dutch knowledge, skills and technology accessible to the rest of the world. Initially, that was done by inviting students from abroad, expanding later to take various forms, including institutional cooperation.
